3. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discuss the annual National Night Out event scheduled for August 2, 2011 and the level of involvement that BANC members can commit to. BANC members discussed levels of commitment for the event (Meet & Greet) and various give-away items (glow-in-the-dark necklaces for the kids and stickers). Members decided that three teams would work better this year, rather than two as last year, due to high participation levels from the community. Members will discuss further at next BANC meeting in June 2011.
4. ACTION ITEM: Discuss and approve BANC’s assistance in co-hosting the Parks and Recreation Department’s Play Day on Friday, July 8th at Heron Park. BANC members talked about the level involvement for this event. BANC members would like to participate; however, participation by BANC members is uncertain at the time of this meeting due to work schedules and uncertainty about future time commitments. A motion to discuss this item again at the June meeting was made by Celicia Skuza and seconded by Cheryl Nickerson. Motion approved 10-0.
INFORMATIONAL REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SUBCOMMITTEES AND LIAISONS: Council Member Robert Brockman discussed the City Manager’s Report. The Downtown Plan is coming in under budget. The new City Hall will be finished in August 2011 ahead of schedule. Brentwood Boulevard Improvement Plan will be the next big item that Brentwood City Council tackles. East County Fire District is about 2.5 million dollars short, so the City of Brentwood is looking at funding its own fire department.
