Minutes for September 8, 2010
Special Meeting

CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 5:10 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Members Johnny Staton, Steve Smith, Claudette Naturel-Staton, Alfredo Garcia, and Rick Fuller were present. Staff Liaisons Barbie Gary and Michele Keady were also present. Karen Nunez arrived at 5:50 p.m. Members Tammy Lynn Misenheimer, Cecila Skuza and Cheryl Nickerson were absent.

PRESENTATIONS: None

ANNOUNCEMENTS: National Night Out Spirit Award ‘Thank You’ BBQ will be held Saturday, September 11th from 1-5 p.m. and BANC members who assisted with the event are encouraged to attend.

CITIZEN COMMENT: Iris Obregon, from Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan’s office, offered any future help that BANC may need from Ms. Buchanan’s office.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approve regular meeting minutes of August 11, 2010. Motion to approve the minutes made by Rick Fuller and seconded by Steve Smith. Motion approved 5-0.

SCHEDULED MATTERS
2. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discussion regarding the annual Christmas Tree Lighting event and task assignments for committee members. Staff Liaison Gary led a discussion regarding the Annual Tree Lighting and possible scenarios in which BANC can have a successful event. BANC members met at the Brentwood Senior Activity Center to view the possible Christmas tree placement and to come up with ideas about how the event should function. Staff Liaison Gary shared with BANC members that the Brentwood Concert Band has offered their resources with the caveat that the band play at least one hour. BANC choose leaders for various areas of the event, and the assignments were divided up as follows: Music: Johnny Staton; Food/Drinks: Rick Fuller; Decorations: Tammy Lynn Misenheimer and Claudette Naturel-Staton; and Santa: Johnny Staton.

3. ACTION ITEM: Determine BANC’s interest in assisting with the Marsh Creek Clean-up event on Saturday September 25, 2010. Discussion centered on individual BANC members volunteering for the clean up. Should a BANC member be interested, that member will contact Diane Burgis at Friends of Marsh Creek.

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 5:53 p.m. Motion made by Claudette Naturel-Staton and seconded by Rick Fuller. Motion approved 5-0.
