CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 6:05 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Johnny Staton, Steve Smith, Claudette Naturel-Staton, Karen Nunez, Cecilia Skuza, Staff Liaisons Barbie Gary and Michele Keady and Coucil Member Brandon Richey. Members Alfredo Garcia, Rick Fuller, Tammy Lynn Misenheimer and Cheryl Nickerson were absent.

PRESENTATIONS: Deborah Willis and Nate Lorenzini of Fremont Bank spoke about the bank which is privately held and in business since 1964. They are looking to get involved with the community and would like to assist BANC in their future endeavors. The committee will discuss how Fremont Bank can assist in the future with events such as the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony or National Neighborhood Day.

CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approve special meeting minutes of May 12, 2010. Motion to approve the minutes made by Karen Nunez and seconded by Cecilia Skuza. Motion approved 5-0.

SCHEDULED MATTERS
2. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update from National Neighborhood Day subcommittee. The subcommittee had not met and will update the committee at next meeting in July. Cheryl Nickerson was added to the subcommittee. Various ideas were discussed for activities to promote for the event including a Bounce House, and creating a September “Neighborhood of the Month” instead of Home of the Month. Prizes might include Delta Cinema/Family Night Movie Tickets, gift certificates, or restaurant donations. Karen Nunez was selected to chair the subcommittee which will meet and report back at the July meeting.

3. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update from the Christmas Tree Lighting subcommittee. Members discussed the placement of the Christmas Tree since City Park is under construction. Based on Parks and Recreation staff suggestions, the committee decided the placement for the tree would be in front of the big windows of the Brentwood Senior Activity Center. Cecilia Skuza and Tammy Lynn Misenheimer were added to the subcommittee.

INFORMATIONAL REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SUBCOMMITTEES AND
LIAISONS: Brandon Richey updated the committee on recent issues and topics under City Council review, including the layout for this year’s Cornfest, the defeat of Measure F, and affordable housing issues.

STAFF COMMENTS: None

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Approve tree location, date, time, and budget for the Tree Lighting Ceremony; updates from subcommittees.
