Minutes for October 14, 2009
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 6:04 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Alfredo Garcia, Cheryl Nickerson, Claudette Naturel-Staton, Johnny Staton, Karen Nunez, Rick Fuller, Stephen Smith, Council member Brandon Richey, Staff Liaisons Michele Keady and Barbie Gary.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Welcome back, Barbie!

2. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update from the City Wide Clean-Up Day subcommittee.
3. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discuss details regarding the Hometown Halloween booth on Saturday, October 24, 2009 and the Halloween Home of the Month winner presentation. The committee discussed details of the Hometown Halloween booth, including event hours from 5 - 8 p.m. and agreed to meet at 4:30 p.m. to help set up the booth. Steve Smith, Alfredo Garcia, Karen Nunez, Johnny Staton, and Claudette Natural-Staton volunteered to work at the booth. Alfredo Garcia agreed to bring a table.
BANC agreed to award the Halloween Home of the Month on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 6 p.m.
4. DISCUSSION ITEM: Review of Fiscal Year 2009/10 budget for BANC. Staff Liaison Barbie Gary handed out BANC’s 2009/10 budget for review. BANC committee members did not have any questions regarding the budget – only clarification of when the budget year began and ended.
5. ACTION ITEM: Update from the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony subcommittee and approve a budget not to exceed $500.00 for event supplies and services. The committee discussed “piggy-backing” on the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade which is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009. Karen Nunez made a motion to move the Tree Lighting from December 4, 2009 to November 21, 2009. Cheryl Nickerson seconded the motion. Motion approved 7-0.
Johnny Staton made a motion to approve $500.00 for the Christmas Tree Lighting budget. Steve Smith seconded the motion. Motion approved 7-0.
Cheryl Nickerson made a motion to move the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony back to December 4, 2009 should the Chamber of Commerce not wish to work with BANC. Rick Fuller seconded the motion. Motion was approved 7-0.
INFORMATIONAL REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SUBCOMMITTEES AND LIAISONS: Council member Brandon Richey noted that the Brentwood Civic Center project was approved by City Council 3-2. Protesters served Council Members who approved the project with a recall petition. The City will re-structure bonds related to the Civic Center.
