Minutes for July 8, 2009
Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 6:10 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Steve Smith, Claudette Naturel-Staton, Rick Fuller, Alfredo Garcia, Johnny Staton, and Staff Liaison Michele Keady.

PRESENTATIONS: Contra Costa County Mosquito & Vector Control. Nola Woods presented an informative slideshow of what the Contra Costa County Mosquito & Vector Control does and how they work to decrease the spread of disease in the county. She also discussed how the community of Brentwood can be involved by contacting them when they observe particular health/ safety hazards.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Martin Barrera-Martinez, aid to Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan, will sit in on BANC meetings from time-to-time. Mr. Martinez introduced himself to each BANC member.

CITIZEN COMMENT: None

CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approve regular meeting minutes of June 10, 2009. Motion to approve the minutes made by Claudette Naturel-Staton and seconded by Rick Fuller. Approved 5-0

SCHEDULED MATTERS

2. DISCUSSION ITEM:. Update from City-Wide Clean-Up subcommittee. Rick Fuller updated the BANC committee with where the subcommittee is at this time. Rick stated that Cheryl and Diane Burgis, Friends of March Creek, have been unable to communicate with each other and that the City-Wide Clean-Up subcommittee will update the BANC committee in August.

3. ACTION ITEMS: BANC Committee was to present Home of The Month award after meeting, however, Johnny Staton stated that the homeowner was ill and unable to accept visitors.

INFORMATIONAL REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SUBCOMMITTEES AND LIAISONS: Councilman Brandon Richie reported to the BANC members on the topic of the planned Civic Center. Councilman Richie stated that the cost is currently $65M and that does not include the parking garage. Councilman Richie also stated that he voted and favors local union workers for the project.

STAFF COMMENTS: Barbie Gary is currently on maternity leave.

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Update from the City-Wide Clean-Up Subcommittee at next BANC meeting.

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. Motion made by Claudette Naturel-Staton and seconded by Rick Fuller. Approved 5-0.
