ARTS COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 17, 2013 AT 7:00 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS
150 CITY PARK WAY
BRENTWOOD, CA 94513

CALL TO ORDER: Chair Gaughan called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

ROLL CALL:
Present were Chair Jack Gaughan, and Commissioners Leslie Bemel, Juan Castillo and Danny Senn. Staff members present were Poldina Scherff, Recreation Manager and Elaine McGurk, Administrative Assistant II.

CONSENT CALENDAR:
1. Approve minutes of regular meeting of March 20, 2013.

 Motion to approve the consent calendar.

SCHEDULED MATTERS:
2. VERBAL UPDATE: Balfour Road Public Art Project staff report to City Council on April 23, 2013. (P. Scherff)

Poldina Scherff presented the City Council staff report that will be going before the City Council for approval on April 23. Along with the staff report are the Artists’ portfolios the Commission had approve at a previous meeting.

3. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEM: Continued discussion and action regarding public art project of silhouettes for the downtown. (P. Scherff)

 Motion to table this item and to report back to City Council their thoughts regarding this project.

4. ACTION ITEM: Election of Vice Chair. (P. Scherff

 Motion to approve the Commission Leslie Bemel as the new Arts Commission Vice Chair for 2013.

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: NONE

STAFF COMMENTS:

Poldina Scherff reported the following:
1. Poldina invited the Commission to come out for the first spring Movies in the Park. It will feature “The Sandlot” on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 8:00 pm in City Park.
2. Prior to the movie in the park, Cowgirl Jessie will be at the Community Center to entertain kids from 4 – 5 pm.
3. 2nd Art Show of the Public Art Walls are currently on display.
4. Liberty High School will be completing the corn cobs and cherry utility box art project soon. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place in May however no dates have been set.

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEM
- Draft wrap up for FY 12/13 of the Art Commission.
