She showcased the “Playport to Fun! Your Travel Through Brentwood.” She presented the website and activities that will take place this summer at various parks throughout Brentwood. Four of the events will be staffed starting in June and run until September. There are twelve other dates that contained self guided activity for families to follow. Fun facts about the parks and recipes are listed for each of the dates. June 8th is the opening day for Playport to Fun and it will take place at Veterans Park with the theme “Play Smart Enjoy Art.” Poldina suggested having the Arts Commission meeting there to allow the public for some meet and greet time with the Commission. She suggested having the meeting there as it is also important to get the public’s support for projects as they move forward to City Council for final approval. Chair Senn was concerned that business would not be conducted as normal and to possibly have the regular meeting as scheduled the following week. Commission Groseclose asked if there was enough business to talk about at a second meeting or can that be postponed to the following month. Commissioner Koncher said she will not be able to attend the June meeting as she will be out of town. Motion to approve the change of meeting date and time for the Arts Commission meeting in June. 6. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discuss the updated list of possible entry ways and develop a plan for the location of City public art. (P. Scherff) Poldina Scherff, Recreation Manager, went over a PowerPoint presentation of the following entry ways: Along with the entry ways, she reviewed the following areas that were presented at the April meeting. • North east corner of Balfour and Highway 4 Bypass To continue on with the discussion on possible areas of public art, it was suggested by Chair Senn to narrow down this list some more to a possibility of 6-8 areas that would be a priority. The Commission reviewed and discussed the areas presented above and narrowed down their choices to the following: 1. Balfour Rd west of Country Club With an established list, the Commission felt that it would be ideal to go back out and re-visit these places for a better visual understanding of the locations they have chosen. The Commission would like to have a workshop in July as the weather will be nicer and sunlight will be out longer. The Commission decided it would hold a Special Meeting to conduct a Workshop on July 20, 2011 from 6 pm – 8 pm. Motion to approve a workshop/meeting for July 20, 2011 from 6 pm – 8 pm.
