SCHEDULED MATTERS:
2. ACTION ITEM: Receive presentation of Downtown Streetscape Capital Improvement Project’s public art installations (arch and monument gateways, and water table fountain); and provide recommendations to City Council. (G. Rozenski)

Gina Rozenki, Redevelopment Manager, gave a brief introduction about the three public art installation projects and introduced Lance Crannell with SDG Architect and Engineering. Mr. Crannell went into further detail of the three pieces (arch and monument gateway, and water table fountain). Arch Diablo will be placed on Oak Street and a matching monument will be on 2nd Street in the median between the high school and City Hall. The water fountain will be on 1st/Oak Street replacing what is already there. He explained what component will make up these pieces. His idea for the projects came about while he thought about what is important to Brentwood and what makes up the uniqueness of this town. He realized that there are 4 major elements that make up Brentwood: rolling hills (Vasco), farmlands, commercial/residential developments, and Mt. Diablo. He wanted to incorporate these four components into his pieces.

Construction will take place in November and will last about seven months. Not all three pieces will be done at the same time. The three art pieces will be done in phases as to not disrupt the traffic during school.
