REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
JULY 15, 2009 AT 7:00 P.M.
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS

BRENTWOOD, CA 94513
CALL TO ORDER: Vice Chairperson Juan Castillo called the meeting to order at 7:11 p.m.
PRESENTATION(S): Spotlight Artist Sheryl Cummings
Ms. Sheryl Cummings has lived in Brentwood for 8 years and has fallen in love with the Community. Four years ago she rediscovered her first love, art. She had work for a phone company well over 35 years but it is her passion in art that satisfies her. She loves to include Irises in her art pieces. Over the years she has experimented with photography and now creates pieces using digital photography to enhance the look of Irises. With this enhancement, she is able to change the colors and create a bolder and unique look to them. She also creates collages using digital photography and then prints them onto canvass.
She has also worked with water color. It is not her favorite type of paint but she has learned to work with it and has done great pieces called “Beach Babes” which was inspired by a recent trip in Kauai. “Beach Babes” shows off the youthfulness and joy for life of women while they enjoy the water and sun.
Ms. Sheryl Cummings truly enjoys what she does now and has found she is always learning something new with each new creation. She isn’t afraid to learn and thrives on enhancing her pieces by experimenting and seeing what may work.
