OATH OF OFFICE: Mayor Robert Taylor administered the oath of office to the new Commission: Juan Castillo, Wanda Groseclose, Karen Halbe, and Greg Ruiz.

CALL TO ORDER: Craig Bronzan, Parks & Recreation Director, called the meeting to order at 7:28 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Commissioners Present: Juan Castillo, Wanda Groseclose, Karen Halbe, and Greg Ruiz
Commissioners Absent: Patrick McCarran
Staff Present: Robert Taylor, Mayor; Craig Bronzan, Parks & Recreation Director; Ken DeSilva, Landscape and Facilities Manager; Poldina Scherff, Recreation Manager: and Linda Stadlbauer, Parks Planning Technician.

ELECTION OF TEMPORARY CHAIR:
Motion: To elect Commissioner Greg Ruiz as the temporary Chair for January 16, 2007 Arts Commission meeting.
Moved by: Commissioner Wanda Groseclose, seconded by: Commissioner Karen Halbe
Vote: Motion carried 4-0

SCHEDULED MATTERS:
1. Review: Review of new Arts Commission ordinance and Commission handbook (C. Bronzan)
Craig Bronzan, Parks and Recreation Director, provided an overview of the new Arts Commission ordinance and handbook.

2. Overview: Overview of existing public art ordinance and public art guidelines. (C. Bronzan)
Craig Bronzan, Parks and Recreation Director, provided an overview of the public art ordinance and guideline. Craig Bronzan, Parks and Recreation Director, further stated that Arts Commission will review the public art ordinance and guidelines to recommend changes.

3. Update: Update on current public art projects (P. Scherff/K. De Silva)
Ken DeSilva presented the Art Projects – Status Report with an overview of each project.

4. Action: Election of officers (C. Bronzan)
Motion: To elect Commissioner Greg Ruiz as Arts Commissioner Chair.
Moved by: Commissioner Wanda Groseclose, seconded by: Juan Castillo
Vote: Motion carried 4-0

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: None

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Chairperson Ruiz suggested a meeting or workshop with Donna Landeros, City Manger, on the concept “one vision for Brentwood”.

Chairperson Ruiz would like the Jan Melloni, President of the Art Society, to do a presentation on the new role of the Art Society and their programs

Commissioner Groseclose suggested discussions on possible future art projects.
